Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis, born on 3 April 1985, is an actress musician, activist, and singer from Britain. She was raised in the London Borough of Islington and took classes at Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis achieved national recognition by winning the third season on The X Factor 2006 and was awarded a contract of PS1 million with Syco music. The winner's song, a cover song by Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" reached number one for 4 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 50k digital downloads in thirty minutes. Clive Davis's label J Records, signed Lewis to a deal for five albums for the United States. Lewis's success continued with the launch of her first studio album, Spirit (2007), which was certified 10x platinum in the UK and was subsequently the fourth best-selling album of the 2000s and one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. Based on the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the best-selling debut album of female singers in the 21st century. The first single, "Bleeding Love", spent seven weeks at number 1 in the UK and was the highest-priced single of 2007. It was also the most-sold song in the US during the same time. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award following year. In 2009 she released her second studio album Echo and also composed the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You", for the film Avatar. Lewis' track "Collide," was made in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as Hurt the EP. It was her first long-form play. Her album Glassheart, her third studio effort, Glassheart (2012), represented a fresh direction in music for Lewis, drawing on dubstep and electronic music. She began to record material for her debut Christmas album during her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid-2013. Christmas with Love was released later that year and its lead single, "One More Sleep" was a top three hit across the UK. This chart entry resulted in Lewis the first British solo female artist in the top five, with eight songs. The singer also overtook Olivia Newton-John's record for seven singles.
